I finally had a chance to watch 'Last Night' this weekend, a film that had been on my "to watch" list for a while. This film is a simple story about a married couple in New York dealing with the temptation of infidelity. It's subtle, honest and very well acted and directed. I love the atmosphere of the night scenes in the same way and for the same reasons I love 'Before Sunrise' so much. This film has a brilliant open ending as well and left me feeling like I desperately needed to talk about it with someone - this always happens when I'm really excited about a film. Someone left me a comment on my 'Before Sunrise' & 'Before Sunset' post asking me if I knew any similar films she could love - well this is the one. Maybe it's not QUITE as magical, but I doubt you'll be disappointed.
Here's the official synopsis:
Set in New York City, 'Last Night' is the story of a married couple that while apart for one night, is confronted by temptation that may decide the fate of their marriage. Joanna (Keira Knightley) and Michael Reed (Sam Worthington) are 7 years into a successful and happy relationship. They are moving along in their lives together until Joanna meets Laura (Eva Mendes), the stunningly beautiful work colleague whom Michael never mentioned. While Michael is away with Laura on a business trip, Joanna runs into an old but never quite forgotten love, Alex (Guillaume Canet) and agrees to have drinks with him. As the night progresses and temptation increases for the couple, each must confront who they are inside and outside of their relationship. 'Last Night' is ultimately a film about choices - the choice you make to be with someone, to give yourself physically and emotionally, and how to survive all three.

I Loved this movie! It's so close to reality and the acting is brilliant. Impossible not to relate to the characters. Loved Guillaume.

Love is a dangerous game:)
While I absolutely adored 'Before Sunrise' and 'Before Sunset', somehow I felt that there was something missing in 'Last Night', especially in the dialogues. I found that, while the characters had all the elements of very interesting people and couples, their personalities were not very well explored. Having said that, the story was intriguing and the atmosphere absolutely intense and beautiful. Still don’t know what to wish for the open ending as there are so many interpretations...
im a HUGE fan of kira,but honestly,this film disappointed me a bit.it's a little cliche;p
I'm sooo gonna watch this one!

Since Before Sunset/Sunrise are also on my favourite film list, I have been dying to watch this and have missed it twice on my pay per view box and at the cinema. I need to search this one out for sure. Thanks for the review!

This is a classic tale of temptation. I can certainly relate to the plot.
